Zeus Engineering

The Goal
Zeus Engineering came to us looking to revitalise a dated website, that was hard to update. They were wanting something more visually dynamic and fresh to better reflect the mature and established business they now are. There was also a deadline for the new website, as the version of PHP the old site used was being depreciated and updating it to something more current was not cost-effective.

What did we do?
We started by discussing the site structure with the client, helping to clean up the confusing navigation into a much clearer direction. Once the structure was decided, we moved on to a complete overhaul of the boxy, simplistic layouts used by the old website. Working together with Zeus, we came up with something that’s both more modern and visually interesting, while also being far more clearly signposted to make for better user navigation. Our new layout had the immediate advantage of mobile responsiveness, something that the old boxed site had never been able to offer.

We moved on to the design stage after that, using the newly refined layout to create an image-focused, professional style that far better reflects the company branding, colours and audience.

It was very important to emphasise the product catalogue and facilitate product enquiries, as they are a car parts business, while also offering the ease of upkeep that WooCommerce provides.  This allowed Zeus to keep their product selection both up to date and well-presented far more easily than before.

Zeus only offers parts by enquiry rather than as an online shop, so the WooCommerce setup was transformed into a catalogue for products, each of which allows prospective customers to get in contact about that specific product. The website also includes a blog for new developments in her business and a ‘featured items’ section to highlight specific products.

It’s time to launch
As always, we went through our QC process to work out any issues that might hinder the site post-launch, from obvious things like missing links to double-checking spacings and overlaps on a wide range of devices. We also performed an SEO transfer to ensure there’d be no interruption in the search engine rankings they’d built up over the life of their site. We also ensured that old links would be properly redirected to their proper place in the new website’s structure to ensure any old links on other websites would still go to the correct places.
