The Goal
Campion VA is a newly created virtual assistant business, created by an already established virtual assistant with a second experienced VA working alongside her under one banner. As both have independent businesses offering a different kind of service but in the same field, it was key that the branding for Campion VA stands apart from the other offerings clearly, while still accurately representing the owners.

Creating a brand identity
The most important aspect of the project was creating a logo and aesthetic for the new company that reflects the personality of the owner, stands apart from their other branding and displays their

expertise as a contrast against the competition. The name, Campion, is from a flower that grows across the UK. Specifically, the client wanted to focus on the red campion, which gave us the cerise that stands as the main colour of the branding. This colour brings in the same energy and enthusiasm while also keeping it somewhat subdued and mature. To complement this, a subtle dark green and black were added for the stem and text, respectively, expanding the colour palette to aid in the professional, refined feel.

The client was eager to keep the shape of the flower as an important part of the aesthetic while steering clear of both the tacky, childish feeling or the ornate, beauty-focused aesthetics that logos based on flowers and nature can also end up in. Ultimately, the hope was for a flower that still feels professional and appropriate for a professional, business-based service. We started with a thin, uppercase font to add structure to the logo, then built the flower icon growing out of the ‘o’ as a way to keep the two concepts closely connected, with a leaf added into the inside to carry the idea of the shape as part of the flower’s stem.

Rather than making the flower very soft and rounded like many of the logos the client disliked, the focus was kept on a more clean, crisp design that matches the aesthetics of the wording. Finally, the last part of the name, the ‘VA’ in Campion VA, was highlighted in the same cerise as the petals to call attention to it and tie it in with the icon part of the logo.

During a series of in-person meetings and email conversations, we worked with these ideas and concepts to come up with a look that the client was completely happy with.

Once the logo was all agreed with the client and finalised, we created a set of clear brand guidelines setting out logo usage, fonts and colours to ensure that all future design created for Campion VA keeps within the aesthetics set out by the brand identity.

Designing a website to match
Once the logo and its styling had been all set out, we created a website based on it, carrying across the fonts, colours and general feel of the site. The same core principles that inspired the logo were also used across the site design, creating a design that’s professional without being dry and colourful without being childlike. We also ensured that the site steered clear of the layouts and aesthetics used by the VAs’ other websites, creating something that stands out independently as its own business.
