Breakwater Holidays is a small and friendly company dedicated to providing their guests with the opportunity to holiday in the most comfortable holiday houses in Devon and Cornwall and create truly memorable experiences. 

The goals  

The Breakwater team came to us with the request to create a brand-new website due to a change in ownership. They wanted to rebrand the website to make the site more on-brand with who they were and less reliant on the Hostaway platform (which they previously used to showcase their properties). One of their requirements was to re-work the structure of the site so people can only book on the Hostaway platform but see the properties on the website.  

The process  

There were many factors included in this process, we began by building a new sitemap and wireframe, we then laid out the best user journey in the wireframing process, and we worked with the client to achieve a layout that they were happy with. From then the build began, we used their branding colours and large images to showcase the client’s properties.  

Throughout this journey we worked closely with the client, taking on board their input which we gathered in meetings we had arranged fortnightly with a dedicated project manager. Throughout the build, we found that people were bouncing from the site quickly and hopping straight onto the hostaway site to book from there. We went back in and reworked the structure of the site so that people would only hit Hostaway if they decided to book, which optimised the time customers spend on the site. The client also used this opportunity to create guides for each property and to increase the content the new site has. All in all, this website was a very smooth build! 

How Did Digital Marketing Play a Part?

Whilst working on the website redesign and rebuild, we had the SEO of the website in mind throughout the entire process. It was important to keep this in mind to ensure that their existing rankings were maintained when moving the content over. This included looking at elements like meta titles, meta descriptions, H1 tags, image alt tags, URL structure and keyword-rich content. 

Launch Day!

In order for us to launch the site smoothly and without interfering with the client’s emails, we had to coordinate with their IT support team and existing web hosts to ensure a successful launch for the site with no downtime. 

The launch of our client’s new site was successful, and the client is very happy with the new site. They were involved in the whole process with regular updates throughout and were encouraged to share their opinions and thoughts, so they got the best results.
