Did you know, there are over 100,000 factors that Facebook takes into account before they decide whether you are worthy. This takes huge amounts of time and effort… or you could simply chuck ’em a tenner.

In the initial days of Facebook, people saw every single post from every single page they liked if they were on at the right time of posting. However since 2015, Facebook has hidden the true potential reach of posting behind a payment wall.

In this blog post I will be looking at why you should be spending money on Social Media (Mostly Facebook) and where you should be spending the money!

Whilst you aren’t wrong that Facebook is in fact free, the official objective of Facebook to “connect and share with the people in your life” this automatically puts business pages to the bottom of the pile.

Take a look through your organic reach over the past 2 years, has it dropped and become increasingly difficult to reach people? This is thanks to the above ranking factors, which simply cannot be attained without paying for it.

LOADS! I am not just talking figuratively either, I have added in the below images taken from an advert that I personally ran with a budget of £100 over a month:

I have also recently completed a campaign where I spent exactly £9.77 over a fortnight, you can see the results that increased engagement from 2 people to 311:

As you can see, even the smallest budgets can make such a huge difference when it comes to social media marketing in 2016.

Here is where you may have seen that you need to purchase all the up to date schedulers out there at £200 a month each and you need 3 of them for each network. This is nonsense, there are in fact only 2 things that you must spend money on when it comes to social media:

I mean, this one is a no brainer when you look at the above results, right?

Unless you have 40 hours a week to spare looking into trending topics and posting engaging relevant articles on Facebook, employ a social media manager (such as Daneswood). On average we offer packages of 6-8 hours per month however you will also receive about 15 hours a month of research completely free of charge!

The biggest statement we hear when we suggest this is: “But I can manage my own social media” to which we always ask the top question: Do you have 40 hours a week to study social media trends and topics? We do. There are hours of research behind the scenes that we carry out on Social Media that you get free of charge, (I know, how generous are we!). We work 40 hours a week on social media profiles, to ensure the work we carry out is the best.

The takeaway from all of this is that social media is still really, really (REALLY) important. Just don’t expect to reach the thousands upon thousands of potential customers if you aren’t willing to put a little bit of money in it.

You don’t have to make it rain, but you do have to at least, spend a little to see some gain.
