How we work with a customer to overhaul an existing site.

“It has been worth the wait. Everyone was very polite and helpful despite my numerous picky requests.”

Joy Raymond, Owner, Goodlands at Lyme Bay Luxury Holiday Cottages

Goodlands is a beautiful spacious holiday bungalow with a meadow in Lyme Regis. They have been a client of Daneswood for a long time and Joy came to us this year to ask for a redesign for the website. She had established her holiday let now with some great reviews on Trip Advisor and loyal customers, and had been doing research on some ‘posh’ websites she liked in the South West. In order to keep up with her competition she wanted more photos on her site, a clean design and something a bit more trendy. She rang us up one day and asked for our help to ‘tart up my site a bit’.

When a client comes to us for a website redesign, the customer service we offer is about understanding what they really need, and helping them find the answers. It all started with a phone call to talk through her thoughts. Joy’s desire to have more photos led us to suggest some new stock images of Lyme Regis and the surrounding area, to accompany the bank of bespoke images of the holiday home she had recently taken. It was also established that being a bungalow let with a meadow, meant that the house was accessible for seniors, visitors with dogs and visitors with limited mobility, but her existing SEO didn’t reflect this. So we needed to build on her key words to match this. We also talked through the sites she liked and disliked, as it’s just as important to know what a client doesn’t want before we start the design.

The new design took her existing logo and floated it over the banner image with the home page and gallery leading on clear images of the home and its rooms. When it comes to holiday booking websites, the customer buys with their eyes and wants to see the home they will be living in and every room that’s available. We included their third party booking system into the site and really upped the images in the gallery.

Customer service also means being flexible to the client, so when Joy’s summer got so hectic with managing her holiday customers to focus on the site, we waited for the busy season to die down before making the new site ‘live’ for her. Joy now has a lovely site that she is really pleased with, and will no doubt, bring many more bookings to future by mobile phones and iPads.
