A bespoke website and administration system for a specialist recruitment company
Lloyd Barnes had been using an off-the-shelf back office system to manage both the content of their website and to form a key part of their candidate and vacancy processes. Unfortunately, their previous company went out of business, leaving them high and dry with no support for their system and no possibility of bringing the website up to date.
We started with a series of workshops to establish their key functional requirements which we translated into a specification for our developers to work from. Additionally, we held a design workshop to help establish the new look and feel they wanted as the company was expanding into two sub-businesses for accountancy and general recruitment.
The site functionality needed to incorporate a number of features:
- An API with Broadbean recruitment software to pull in the job vacancies
- Splitting jobs in Accountancy and General
- Candidate registration and account management
- Vacancy alerts by email based on individual preferences
- A fully featured timesheet recording and authorisation system with email notifications and approvals
- A content management system to provide full control over content of the public facing website
We developed a new administration function using the Laravel PHP framework to ensure that a completely custom solution could be developed to meet all of Lloyd Barnes’ needs. This involved developing a bespoke feed from Broadbean which requires no administrative effort from Lloyd Barnes. We also developed the candidate account functions which enables candidates to upload their CV and create and manage job alert preferences. Once an account has been created, candidates can apply for any job vacancy on the site with a single click as this will post their details and CV straight to Lloyd Barnes to follow up.
We also created a bespoke job search function so that it was really easy to use and presented users with the most appropriate information based on their search criteria.
The timesheet functionality we created enables account holders to enter and maintain their timesheets on a weekly basis. Once completed, the timesheets are electronically transmitted to their supervisor who can authorise or decline the timesheet from an email.
The site also features a News function which enables Lloyd Barnes to post relevant information and content. Since the site was launched in August 2017 it has been used successfully by hundreds of candidates and clients. So far, we’ve had no support requests which is a good indication that the site meets its brief and is providing trouble free facilities for Lloyd Barnes and their clients.
