Interstitial Lung Disease Interdisciplinary Network

Hosting, SEO, Wordpress

A forward thinking website for this charity to drive membership, news and event information.

The Interstitial Lung Disease Interdisciplinary Network (ILD-INN) exists for nurses and healthcare professionals working within this specialist area. The website promotes subscription to their Membership scheme where users can register and pay online for an annual membership. Once they are approved as members then they have online access to a host of documents to help their continuous professional development and sharing of information and education.

The ILD-INN came to us with an underperforming WordPress site that didn’t meet the functional needs of the organisation in terms of online membership management and event booking. We started by overhauling the design using their existing branding and placing the images in a pentagon shape to reflect their logo. It was great to work with a charity that wanted a creative bespoke WordPress design and didn’t want to use something off-the-shelf. Their investment in design shows on every page.

Handling Membership

We installed a plugin to handle their membership, which allows for premium content, has membership levels that match what ILD-INN wanted and is scalable as membership grows. It also has recurring payments and provides restricted access to members-only content.  The member can update their billing formation or cancel their account directly on the site. We customised the registration form so it has specific boxes that capture the data ILD-INN needed to store on their members. We manually migrated in their existing membership database. It all links into the Stripe payment gateway, for quick online payment and membership completion.

Handling Events

The charity have a series of conferences and events, that are viewable and bookable online. We installed a plugin for the events system and completed bespoke development to allow both the membership and events plugins to feed into each other, automating the process and keeping admin to a minimum. After a conference the event materials are available online to members only, who can also view the archive of previous conference materials too.

The charity now has a really first class WordPress website that they can confidently manage themselves via the content management system. They can post news regularly, with the latest articles appearing dynamically on the Home page, and it displays their weekly Twitter posts. The whole site is fully mobile friendly and we completed basic search engine optimisation on the website whilst also performing URL redirects from their previous website, to carry over the Google authority that existed there.  We were delighted to win to tender for such a prestigious and important charity and all in all this project was a real joy to work on.
