Student storage website with user friendly mobile booking form

This site was a delight to work on. It was a start-up business who were offering affordable student storage over the summer months for overseas students in Bournemouth, Portsmouth and Southampton. The company approached us with only a logo and a name and they listened carefully and took our advice – on payment gateways on offer, best digital practice for a positive user experience on an online form, as well as offline use of PayPal Direct hand held devices to take payment at the box collection stage.

Challenge

We worked very collaboratively through the whole design phase, as although we had the logo we had to design the banners and branding from scratch. They wanted to veer away from photography and go for a more playful graphic approach. We worked with them on sourcing stock icons that matched items that students would need to store over summer, and included their logo in various colours as a graphic element with the banners.

The most important part of the build stage was the mobile friendly design of the bespoke ‘book now’ online form. They knew that the majority of their audience, being students, would probably book on mobile devices and phones. The wanted a clean, attractive and easy to use form with minimum order value set and that then linked through to the Stripe payment gateway. They choose Stripe as although the student can book anytime, it only takes payment from their account once the boxes are collected.

Solution

We delivered an entirely bespoke ecommerce design and very attractive branding that can now be used by The Box Junction both online and offline in their posters and fliers that they hand out at the universities. We feel the form is a great example of really good UX design that minimises cart abandonment and takes mobile bookings quickly, securely and with ease. The Box Junction kindly sent us a case of Prosecco when the site went live, to say a big thank you, which made us all very proud!
